The Challenge: ARTIS opens her doors after closing time, for the first time! Visitors can now experience ARTIS in the dark. But, how do we visualise something in campaign, when you cannot see anything?
The Solution: We use the darkness as our canvas to create a striking visual of glowing night-animal eyes peering through the shadows. Inspired by countless cartoons, these illuminated eyes evoke a sense of mystery and excitement; the perfect reflection of DONKER IN ARTIS.

For the copy, we play with spontaneous exclamations, the kind of shouts people might let out when they experience ARTIS in the dark themselves. Think: “Sodeknetter!” or “Wajoooo!” -raw, honest reactions that capture the thrill of the night.
Creation: Together with designer and artist Thijs Mosterman, we brought our idea to life through hundreds of hand-drawn frames, seamlessly animated into two enchanting films. Each film captures a conversation between families and friends as they share their experiences of ARTIS in the dark.

For sound design, we took a mysterious approach, layering an immersive mix of nocturnal zoo sounds that draw you deeper into the nighttime atmosphere of ARTIS.
